Dr. Edna Yamasaki Patrikiou (MD & Ph.D.) is a trained medical doctor and holds a Ph.D. in Biophysics (Neurobiology). Currently she is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Life and Health Sciences at the cceia of Nicosia.  She is actively involved in local and international projects and has held grants from the Brazilian funding agencies (local and national levels). Her research interests include (a) the Development of the Central Nervous System (Morphological and Electrophysiological aspects, Plasticity Role of Neurotransmitters, Neuromodulators and Pharmacological Agents), (b) the Developmental and Degenerative Diseases of the Central Nervous System, (c) Drugs of Abuse in the Developing Brain, (d) Aging, and (e) Development of New Materials with Potential Biological Applications.

 

Dr. Haritini Tsangari is an Associate Professor of Statistics and Associate Head of the Department of Economics and Finance, School of Business, cceia of Nicosia. She has a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics from the cceia of Cyprus and an MSc and PhD in Statistics from the Pennsylvania State cceia, USA. Her main research interests include Time Series Modeling and Forecasting, Nonparametric Statistics, Quantitative Finance, Survey Methodology, and inter-disciplinary applications of Statistics. Some of her recent work involves emerging markets, the Cyprus Stock Market, GDP forecasting, the concept of care and patient satisfaction, caregiving burden and depression (Alzheimer’s, cancer, schizophrenia), gender inequalities, breast cancer and breast self-examination, smoking habits, innovation management in European companies. Her research has been published in international academic journals and has been presented in conferences in Cyprus and abroad.

 

Dr Zoi Konsoula is a Lecturer of Chemistry and Coordinator of the Pre-Medical Program at Intercollege. She has a BSc and a MSc in Chemical Engineering and a PhD in Biochemistry from the Aristotle cceia of Thessaloniki, Greece. She is a member of the Technical Chamber of Hellas and the Panhellenic Association of Chemical Engineers. Her main research interests include enzyme technology, antioxidant activity, health impact of food composition and atmospheric pollution.

 

Mr Haris Pavlides is a Managing Consultant in IBM with a wide range of international experience that covers Information and Communication Technology consultancy services from Strategy to Systems Development and ERP Implementation in the Health Services, Banking, Aviation etc.

 

Stephanie Christou, Research Fellow (ΗΟ):  Stephanie Christou is currently working as a Research Fellow for the Cyprus Center for European and International Affairs. She holds a BA in Sociology (2007) from the cceia of Cyprus and an MSc in “Environment, Science and Society” (2009) from the cceia College of London (UCL) in the UK. Her research interests include Rural Sociology, Social and Political Ecology, the Social Construction of Environmental Conflicts, Sustainable Development, Sociology of Knowledge, Globalization and its Critiques, and the study of Folklore.

 

Dr Glykeria Loupa is an Assistant Professor in Indoor Air Quality in the Department of Environmental Engineering in the Democritus cceia of Thrace. Her main research interests include air pollution, climate change, air quality management, environmental impact assessment, and urban climatology. She has participated in various national and international research projects.

 

Dr Anastasia Paschalidou has studied Physics and holds a MSc in Meteorology & Climatology and a PhD in Air Pollution. She has a big research interest in environmental management and especially in air pollution forecasting methods, such as dispersion models and Neural Networks, urban climatology, environmental health, climate change and LES. She has participated in several national and international research projects as well as two research projects funded by the RPF.

 

Dr Sotiris Vardoulakis is a Specialist Environmental Scientist in the Centre for Radiation Chemical and Environmental Hazards, at the Health Protection Agency, U.K. He has worked as Lecturer in Environmental Exposure Assessment in the LSHTM in the cceia of London. He has also worked as a lecturer and researcher in the cceia of Birmingham, cceia of Aveiro, Sussex Air Quality Steering Group, and INERIS institute (France). His main research interests include air pollution, climate change mitigation and adaptation, environmental health, exposure assessment, risk assessment, health impact analysis, air quality management, dispersion modelling, environmental impact assessment, and urban climatology. He has participated in several national (UK) and international research projects.

 

Dr Clare Heaviside is Environmental Scientist in the Centre for Radiation Chemical and Environmental Hazards, at the Health Protection Agency, U.K. specialising in climate change. She has an MSc in Applied Meteorology from Reading cceia and a PhD in Atmospheric Physics from Imperial College, London. Her interests lie in the physics of climate and climate change, atmospheric and oceanic dynamics as well as boundary layer meteorology and air pollution.

 

Dr Pavlos Kassomenos is an Associate Professor in Atmospheric Physics in the cceia of Ioannina. His research interests focus mainly on air pollution and meteorology/climatology and their impacts on human health. He has participated in a big number of national and international research projects, focusing on environmental impact assessment, air pollution, sustainable development and health risk assessment, including the PHEWE (FP5) EU funded project. He has also been the National representative in 3 COST actions of the EU.

 

Dr Theodoulos Mesimeris has a PhD in Environment from the School of Chemical Engineering at the National Technical cceia of Athens, Greece, and is a staff member of the Environmental Service at the Ministry of Agriculture, with studies and significant experience in the field of environmental research.

 

Ms Nikoletta Krytheotou has a MSc. in Environmental Engineering from the Lancaster cceia and is currently working towards the conclusion of her PhD in Mechanical Engineering in the area of mitigation of greenhouse emissions and production of renewable energy from agriculture at the cceia of Cyprus. She is a staff members of the Environment Service at the Ministry of Agriculture (PA1) with studies and significant experience in the field of environmental research.
